Great news for students who want to start or continue their studies at Unisa!! The University of South Africa is inviting applications for the 2026 academic year. So, students from all throughout South Africa, as well as overseas students, can now submit their applications totally online. From August 18 to October 10, 2025, students can apply online for undergraduate degrees, postgraduate diplomas, and more. What is Unisa?
Unisa is a distance education university, which means that most courses are available online or via correspondence. This allows students to learn from anywhere while balancing work, family, and other responsibilities.
More than 400,000 students were enrolled at Unisa in 2025. This makes it South Africa’s largest university. Its offerings vary from certificates and certifications to undergraduate and graduate degrees. This is in a variety of sectors, including education, law, business, science, arts, and engineering.
Who Can Apply?
The application is open for the following students:
- New students who have never attended Unisa before.
- Returning students who have skipped a year and wish to re-register.
- Students change courses or certifications.
- International students
How to Apply Online
- First, decide what you want to study
- Check the Admission Requirements; each course has its unique admittance criteria.
- Gather your documents, including a copy of your ID or passport, school results or academic records, and proof of previous qualifications.
- Visit www.unisa.ac.za/apply to create a myUnisa account.
- Fill up your personal information and submit your papers.
- Once you’ve submitted your application, you’ll need to pay the nonrefundable application fee.
- Unisa will send you email updates. It may take several weeks or even months to receive a final response, so check your inbox periodically.
- If you are accepted, the next step is to enroll in your modules (subjects). Registration for 2026 is likely to open in January 2026.
