Great News for TVET college students!! NSFAS has opened a second-semester application window for 2025. This possibility is especially beneficial for students who want to begin their studies in the middle of the year at public TVET institutes. If you did not apply before, here is your second opportunity to receive funding help for the year. This is only for individuals who are currently enrolled or plan to enroll in public TVET colleges for the second semester. In this article, we are going to talk about who can apply, how to apply, important dates to keep in mind, and what documents are required.

Who Should Apply

Here is the eligibility criteria to apply:

  • You’re beginning or continuing a TVET college program in Semester 2 of 2025.
  •  You did not apply for or get funding for Semester 1 earlier this year.
  • You’ve changed colleges or courses and need new funds.

How to Apply?

Applying is only available online and is completely free. Here’s how you do it.

  • Visit www.nsfas.org.za.
  • Create or log into your myNSFAS account.
  • Fill out the form under “Apply”.
  • Upload your documents.
  • Submit before the deadline.

What are the documents needed?

When applying, gather the following:

  • Your ID and, if relevant, the guardians’ IDs
  • Income evidence (pay stubs, affidavits, SASSA letters)
  • Consent Form (if under 35)
  • Disability or vulnerable child form, if applicable.
  • Acceptance or enrollment confirmation for Semester 2

Application Deadline

Applications began on July 14, 2025, and will close on July 31, 2025. You’ve got little over two weeks to apply. Missing this window means having to wait till next year. NSFAS begins processing applications in August and September, following the deadline. Funding decisions and communication (by SMS, email, and your myNSFAS dashboard) are expected shortly after.
Once registered for Semester 2, allowances and tuition disbursements normally begin.
