Applications for the fully-funded International Civil Society Week (ICSW) Journalist Fellowship 2025 are currently open. The fellowship provides journalists worldwide with the opportunity to attend ICSW in Bangkok, Thailand, from November 1–5, 2025.
About the fellowship
The fellowship is organized by the global civil society alliance CIVICUS and the Asia Democracy Network (ADN). Its goal is to support journalists in reporting on issues of civic space and human rights.
Selected fellows will receive:
- A fully-funded trip to Bangkok to attend the International Civil Society Week.
- Opportunities to meet and interview civil society activists from around the world.
In return, fellows are required to publish at least two stories related to ICSW and civic freedoms, based on their reporting during the week.
Fellowship categories and eligibility
The program has two categories to accommodate journalists at different career stages:
Young Journalist Fellowship: For journalists under 30, including citizen journalists and digital media creators who cover human rights.
Journalist Fellowship: For journalists of any age with a strong portfolio of work and a demonstrated interest in human rights and civic space issues.
