What’s Changing for CAF Members?
Higher pay: The Canadian government is improving the compensation of soldiers at all levels. New recruits will see a 20% rise. Most others will earn between 8% and 13% extra on their base wages.
Loyalty bonuses: This loyalty bonus will be given to those who wil stay in service longer. CAF members will now get between $2,000 and $6,000 extra. This will depends on how many years they’ve served.
Moving costs covered better: Military families move around a lot. Members will now be reimbursed in flat sums for relocation rather than based on their rank. Starting at $13,500 and rising to $27,000 based on how many moves they have already made. Additional travel, meals, and emergency expenses will be better covered.
Why Is This Happening Now?
The Canadian Armed Forces have been coping with major staffing issues. There are hundreds of available vacancies throughout the country. It’s been difficult to locate fresh folks eager to join. Or to persuade current members to stay. Prime Minister Mark Carney stated that the government wants to demonstrate that it knows how challenging the military lifestyle can be.
