What Is the Martin Roth Initiative?
Martin Roth Initiative was started by the Goethe-Institut and ifa (Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations). This program will help the artists, writers, musicians, filmmakers, and other cultural workers who are under threat in their home countries. They are affected by governments, extremist groups, or social pressure and feel unsafe to live or work freely. So the program will give temporary support to the artist, usually in Germany. So they cab do their work freely.
What Does the Program Cover?
This Program will cover the following:
- A monthly stipend to help cover living costs
- Travel expenses, including flights
- Help with getting a vis
- Health insurance
- Language classes (usually German)
- Professional support like mentorship or training
- Help from a host organization, such as a museum, gallery, or cultural NGO
Who Can Apply?
The people who can apply were:
- Work in art, culture, or activism
- Face danger because of their work or identity
- Want to keep working on cultural or social issues
How to Apply
You must apply along with a host organization. This could refer to a gallery, museum, cultural foundation, or university in Germany.
There are two parts to the application:
- The artist fills out one form
- The host organization fills out a separate form
