The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) is offering a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Journalism Fellowship in 2025, specifically for journalists in Nigeria. This six-month program, running from October 2025 to March 2026, is the third cohort of the fellowship.
Program details
- Output: Fellows are expected to produce at least six substantial stories on DPI/DPGs and have them published by their media organizations.
- Purpose: The fellowship is designed to build a pool of West African journalists with the knowledge and skills to produce high-impact reports on Digital Public Infrastructure and Digital Public Goods and Services (DPGs).
- Program format: The fellowship includes virtual and in-person components, featuring training workshops, mentorship, and story production.
- Location: The program includes an in-country capacity-building session for the selected fellows in Nigeria.

Eligibility and application
Application deadline: The deadline to apply is September 12, 2025.
Eligibility: The program is open to experienced journalists based in Nigeria.
Application requirements:
- A 350-word statement of interest.
- A CV with two referees.
- A statement of support from the applicant’s media organization.
- A copy of a national ID.
Benefits
Additional support: Exceptional fellows may receive travel grants to attend international training or conferences.
Financial support:
- Monthly stipend: US$250 per month for the first three months.
- Reporting grants: Up to US$300 per story for the production of reports.
- Recognition: Fellows will receive a certificate of participation upon completion.
