Under the government’s Silver Support Scheme, eligible seniors will receive up to S$1,080 every three months (quarterly) starting in 2025. This change is part of the government’s attempts to help. About: Silver Support Scheme
The Singapore government established the Silver Support Scheme in 2016. It provides extra funds to older Singaporeans with modest incomes and limited savings. These are typically folks who have worked in low-wage jobs. Those who raised families without full-time employment. Also, who were self-employed and did not make significant CPF contributions.
Eligibility for this Scheme
You are eligible if all of these apply:
- Singapore citizen
- Age 65 or older.
- Low CPF contributions: Total CPF ≤ S$140,000 by age 55, or average income (age 45-54) ≤ S$27,600 if self-employed.
- Live in 1- to 5-room HDB flats.
- Don’t own private property.
- Do not own more than one HDB flat.
What are the changes brought by the government in 2025?
The following were the changes brought by the government in 2025 were:
- The system was enhanced in 2025 to provide more money to people in greatest need.
- The maximum quarterly compensation has been increased to S$1,080, which is a substantial leap compared to earlier years.
- The most eligible seniors will receive S$360 per month, or S$4,320 per year.
- The government claims this change is necessary to keep up with rising living costs.
