Eligibility criteria
As of August 20, 2025, candidates must have passed Class 10 with at least 50% marks and hold a relevant NTC/SCVT ITI certificate. The age limit is 15 to 24 years, with relaxations for SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), and PwBD (10 years) candidates.
Application process
Applications are accepted exclusively online via the official WCR website, wcr.indianrailways.gov.in. The process involves registration, filling out the application form with personal and educational details, uploading required documents (photograph, signature, certificates), and paying the application fee online. The fee is ₹141 for General, OBC, and EWS candidates, and ₹41 for SC, ST, PwBD, and women candidates. After reviewing, candidates submit the form and should print the confirmation page.
Selection procedure
Selection is based solely on merit, calculated from the average marks in Class 10 and ITI exams. Shortlisted candidates will undergo document verification and a medical fitness test.
Stipend and absorption
Apprentices will receive a monthly stipend of ₹7,700 to ₹8,050. Completion of the apprenticeship does not guarantee employment with Indian Railways.
