Admission Process in PSTE in DIETs & TTIs


Pre-service Teacher Education at Diploma level is one of the foci of DIET/SCERT in Tamil Nadu. Pre-service Teacher Education has a holistic approach in integrating theory and practice through school experience. 

Admission to the First Year of Diploma in Elementary Education Course is doneaccording to the marks obtained in the Higher Secondary Examination and in accordance with the reservation policy of the State.

h) Method of Selection Process and Admission:

i) Counselling under Single Window System through online:

Admission to the first year Diploma in Elementary Education is made online. All the applicants are ranked category-wise on the basis of Higher Secondary marks secured by them and as per Government norms in vogue. Counselling is conducted by the Selection Committee at the State Council of Educational Research and Training through online. The candidates come to the counselling centre at the District head quarter in each district.

ii) Process of Admission: 

The applicants are ranked based on the marks obtained in the Higher Secondary Examination following the rule of reservation and other Government norms now in vogue. The merit list is hosted on the website for the convenience of the applicants well be in advance. The allotment of candidates in each of the institutions is made through Single Window System as per the choice of the candidates during the time of counselling.

  1. Science Group 50% seats
  2.  Arts Group 25% seats

(This subject wise selection will be separate for boys and girls)
